Project Overview
Reyez Construction and a joint venture partner widened 13 miles of the urban freeway, which included widening 12 bridges, adding carpool and auxiliary lanes, sound walls, lights and overhead message boards. The design work proceeded simultaneously with the construction process. The intent was to keep at least six lanes of traffic open during the day and to limit restrictions to nights and weekends. As a result of an accelerated schedule and the design/build concept, what was once a six-year project finished in two years.
