Project Overview

The project is one of four total solar generation and storage projects located in New Mexico, which together will total 950 MW. This is part of Reyez's exciting expansion into New Mexico. The large-scale move toward solar comes in response to market demands and New Mexico’s Energy Transition Act, which calls for 50% of the state’s electricity to come from renewables by 2030 and 80% by 2040. Reyez Construction is the prime contractor of the solar array scope. Once finished, Arroyo will power about 114,500 homes per year. The project will be the largest operating PV facility in New Mexico by almost three-fold.

The project scope includes over 385,000 cubic yards of earthwork, over 43 miles of underground medium voltage cable, and 782,012 bifacial PV modules total installed on single-axis trackers. At its peak, the project will also employ 400 craft professionals.

This project presented unique challenges and opportunities for the Reyez team because of its remote location and changes to the PV modules used in the initial design of the facility. Due to supply chain constraints, the facility’s PV modules underwent a late-stage change and required on-site modification of the tracker system to accommodate the new modules.
