CFO/Corporate Accountant
Matt Romero brings over 23 years of accounting experience in both the public and private sectors. He joined Reyez Construction in 2007 as Controller with primary responsibility over the Company’s financial and accounting operations. Since joining Reyez, Matt has also become involved in other operational aspects of the Company leading to added responsibility over the risk management and contract management functions. He was named CFO and Corporate Secretary in 2011. As CFO, Matt continues to have direct oversight of the financial, administrative, and accounting operations of Reyez while also managing the Company’s legal, surety, insurance, outside audit, and banking relationships.
Prior to joining Reyez Construction, Matt worked as a supervising senior in the assurance group of KPMG’s Downtown Los Angeles office. As supervising senior, Matt functioned as the day-to-day contact for audit clients and had primarily responsibility over the execution of audit fieldwork including performance of audit procedures over complex accounting areas. Some of his most notable audit engagements included: Nestle USA, Gemstar-TV Guide, Princess Cruises and QAD. Matt entered private industry as Divisional Controller for the Inland Empire division of national homebuilder, Pulte Homes. While at Pulte, Matt managed and reported on the financial performance of the division’s Del Webb master-planned communities.
Matt graduated cum laude from the University of Southern California (Leventhal School of Accounting). He has passed all parts of the CPA exam and is a Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP)
